Please Note: We are aware of a current issue with some criminal fines being ineligible for online payment and are working towards a resolution. If your fine or payment plan appears ineligible for online payment, please pay your fine at the courthouse or by mail. If you received a hand-written traffic ticket, there may be a delay from the time you receive your ticket until you can use this online payment site. You can report an issue by submitting your case number using this form.
This service is for payment of traffic infraction fines and fees. The Judicial Branch Violations Bureau handles traffic infraction tickets for the entire State of Maine through a centralized process. Traffic infractions are non-criminal offenses. Criminal traffic cases, such as OUI or speeding more than 30 mph over the limit, are processed by the district court covering the location where the alleged offense occurred.
If you received a hand-written ticket, there may be a delay from the time you receive your ticket until you can use this online payment site.
You may also pay your ticket by mail, over the phone, or in person at the clerk’s window at any Maine state courthouse.
If you do not pay the full amount of your traffic ticket fine within the time allowed, your license will be suspended.
If suspended, you will need to pay an additional $50 late fee for each violation, plus a reinstatement fee to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to have your license reinstated.
You have 30 days from the date the decision is entered in your case to pay your fine, unless otherwise ordered by a judge.
To contest (dispute) a traffic ticket, follow the directions on your paper ticket or use our online service, Guide & File. To contest or take other actions regarding a traffic ticket through Guide & File, you must set up an account and have an email address.
It may take up to 2 business days for your transaction to be processed by the State of Maine, during this time any outstanding warrants and/or license suspensions will remain in effect. Partial payments will not absolve outstanding warrants and/or license suspensions, these will remain in effect until the fine is paid in full. Please contact the Bureau of Motor Vehicles to pay your reinstatement fees once your fine has been paid in full. Payment provided through this service does not cover your attorney fees or restitution. If you have questions regarding attorney fees or restitution please contact the appropriate court directly.
Fine amounts due are refreshed daily.
A convenience fee of 5% will be assessed for each electronic payment. A minimum convenience fee of $1.00 per transaction will be charged. Only Visa, MasterCard, and Discover will be accepted. If paying a traffic ticket by phone, a convenience fee of 2.89% will be assessed.
The convenience fee can be avoided by paying by mail using check or money order or by going to any Maine courthouse and paying by check, money order or cash.
