Through a partnership with the American Heart Association (AHA),15 blood pressure cuffs are now available for checkout through Suffolk Public Library's Library of Things collection. Blood pressure cuff kits will include the equipment required to monitor the user's blood pressure as well as health information from the AHA. 

A blood pressure monitoring station will also be added to the Morgan Memorial Library for public access. Blood pressure cuffs will be available for the standard checkout period with unlimited renewals pending hold requests. 

Monitoring blood pressure is essential for maintaining heart health and preventing serious conditions like stroke, heart disease, and kidney failure. Regular checks help detect early signs of hypertension, allowing for timely intervention and a healthier, longer life. The AHA emphasizes that regular blood pressure monitoring, including at home, is crucial for effective hypertension management and early detection of potential health issues.
