Vaccines for Children
Ensuring children are up to date on vaccinations is critical for protecting their health and preventing the spread of diseases. The Maine CDC Immunization Program provides access to vaccines recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC) for children and adolescents. This ensures all Maine children can be protected regardless of their family's ability to pay.
How Much Does It Cost?
Vaccines are provided at no cost to all children ages 18 and younger, regardless of insurance status. There is also no cost to the health care provider. The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program is a federally funded and state administered. Providers may charge a minimal administration fee to patients; however, patients may not be turned away for their inability to pay. The Program works with health care providers across Maine to ensure vaccines are available to all children.

Vaccines for Adults
Staying up to date on vaccinations helps people stay healthy and prevent the spread of serious illnesses. The Maine Immunization Program offers resources and information about vaccines recommended for adults 19 years and older, including those needed for work, travel, or routine health.
Cost and Coverage
Most vaccines for adults 19 and older are covered by private insurance plans and Medicare. For those who are under or uninsured, the Maine CDC Immunization Program offers vaccines at no cost. We are committed to offering all U.S. CDC-recommended vaccines through participating health care providers. Providers with an eligible adult population are encouraged to participate in this program to ensure vaccines are accessible to those in need.
