CLANTON – Tuesday, 1:00 PM, July 15, 2025
Due to Heat Index Values between 105-109 between 10 am and 7 pm Wednesday across portions of western and northern Alabama, the NWS has issued a Heat Advisory.
At 1 pm today, an area of low pressure was located on the east coast of Florida and will move westward across the Peninsula through tonight with no additional strengthening. As the center moves into the northeastern Gulf on Wednesday, conditions are favorable and a tropical depression may form. There continues to be a 40% chance of development.
Models continue to move this system west of Alabama and “potentially” make landfall in Louisiana Thursday or early Friday. If the center stays on or near the coast, it will have less time to develop/strengthen. However, if it moves farther offshore into open water, conditions are favorable for strengthening.
At a minimum, rain bands with very heavy rainfall appear likely across the southern half of the state beginning Wednesday through at least Friday. Localized flooding will be possible. Depending on the exact track, periods of heavy rainfall may occur across portions of the state this weekend.
